    Chico Yo-Yo Company: Bulldog

    Chico Yo-Yo Company: Bulldog

    The Bulldog.

The first yo-yo to be produced entirely in Chico since the wood Bird in Hand Yo-Yo made in the late 1980′s.

This one is all-metal, ball bearing and for advanced players. Uses a large bearing with silicone for long spins and a predictable response that requires a bind. This has a gorgeous finish. The marbled red and black anodized finish is unique and each yo-yo has a different appearance due to the inherent variability of the process.

Two different finishes are available. The “shiny” finish is all out gorgeous, while the “matte” finish gives the player looking for a grinding yo-yo something beautiful to throw. Unique to this yo-yo is the hand finished pinstripe ring that sets off the outer rim and accents the engraved logo on the outer face. The logo is engraved instead of laser etched.

Playability of this yo-yo has been very well received. A fairly traditional and comfortable shape lends familiarity to your hands. A very wide gap and a precision cleaned ABEC-5 aircraft instrument grade bearing affords very long spin times and forgiving play. The hand poured flowable silicone creates very tight binds. For those that prefer other materials or sticker style response material, the groove for the already applied flowable silicone is sized to accomodate commonly available pads that have become standards in the high-performance yo-yo market.

I have been playing and collecting yoyo’s for over 40 years and I pretty much either own or at least have owned every major high-end yoyo on the market. This new release called the Bulldog by Chico yo-yo Company is without a doubt one of the finest playing and asthetically pleasing yoyo’s one could obtain. This is an incredibly unbelievable achievment for a company’s first attempt at a high-end metal yoyo. Congratulations to Chico Yo-Yo Company on this great success and I am looking very foward to some future releases.

  2. Love this yo-yo… This is the intro to my review

For the last two years (apx), I have been doing by best to make my way to Chico at least once a month and help out with the Saturday Yo-Yo Club. Teaching has always been a passion of mine, and I enjoyed the company of some
of the finest yo-yoers in the world and the heads of the
National YoYo League. About a year ago, Thad (Thad Winzenz National YoYo Master) started showing me prototypes of an unnamed yo-yo he was working on. Over the year the yo-yo evolved with input from myelf and frequent club members and emerged as a raw prototype undersized yo-yo. I dug it, and suggested a few minor tweaks. Two weeks ago, Thad put the finished Bulldog in my hands. Designed by a National Yo-Yo Master, and influenced from a club attended by some on the greatest yoyoers around, the Chico Yo-Yo Company consisting of Bob, Thad, and Richie, have finally released the Bulldog.

    its crazy!

At the first look, you can already tell that your going to like it.I have been using the bulldog the past few times ive been at Bird-in-hand. It starts out good, but just keeps getting better. You will find yourself liking it more every time you use it. (well this is whats happening with me) It is a bit small, but it plays BIIIIGG!!!!!!!! I usually like bigger yoyos, but this one passes with an A+!
Oh it pretty much looks cooler than any other yoyo out there too. I thought id just throw that out there =p.

Im not saying this just to try to promote selling. I really meen it. If you dont beleive me, just try one……

  4. Wait till you see the next one !
    real soon

  5. I was recently at the 2009 National Yo-Yo Contest, where I ended up purchasing 2 bull dogs. 1 original in red, and 1 of the new ones in blue (matte finish). These are amazing yo-yos that are performance-quality right out of the box. I was originally attracted by the looks of the yo-yos, but after playing with them… I knew I had to have them both.

Keep up the great work Thad and Richy, you guys are definitely on the right track.
